Gap : The White Collection

I was very much looking forward to see the latest great designs in Gap's exclusive designer white shirt collection recently made available in our Malaysian Gap stores (only in KLCC and One U stores).

This year's finalist from 2007 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund are rising designers namely 3.1 Phillip Lim's Phillip Lim, Band of Outsiders’ Scott Sternberg, Michael Bastian, Philip Crangi and threeASFOUR’s Gabi Asfour, Adi Gil & Angela Donhauser. Again, it's to create a limited edition collection inspired by the classic Gap white shirt.

Reminiscing ;

Last year had notable designers such as Thakoon, Kate & Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte and Doo.Ri show their utmost creative skills in a black white shirt. It was exclusively featured in the covers of Vogue 2007 May issue (or see here). 2007's collection gave a breath of fresh air to the conventional white shirt / dress.

This campaign's aim is simple > designs are a fresh new take on a simple white blouse. White items are a definitive item in one's wardrobe. But this range is not any simple white blouse or shirt or dress. It has great detailing, cuttings and not to mention the price factor (designer wear at a fraction).

This year's design that caught my eyes are threeASFOUR’s asymmetrically cut-out dress. I did manage to tried it out. Feminine neckline was further accentuated by the precise cut at the shoulder line and the cute but not overtly done heart ruffles at the chest area. Stitching across the bodice immaculately done, hardly noticeable at first glance. But for anyone less than modelesque height, it does look a bit like a tent dress. Lastly, this lovely white dress is finished with a row of buttons at the back, with a slight fold. I know, hard to imagine. But it's all these small details that makes it a true original design. Far different from any white dress. Here are some pictures...

This is what I called, a subtly sexy dress. Great enough for a cocktail party or a day out in the park.
