Agyness Deyn: The current face (still?)

I don't understand what is the hype about this face, or the look? Yes, the hairstyle change did it for Twiggy and it did propel Agyness to superstardom being a supermodel. I feel that her look is kinda old now, 2 years in that same look is vintage (in modelling years).

However, I like this picture of her. She looked very sweet, friendly and approachable. Could it be the bicycle, the dress or her smile. Definitely the dress, her white blonde hair is too androgynous, and this dress tones it down a whole notch.

The GAP of Japan : Uniqlo

Uniqlo store in Tokyo

Japanese chain Uniqlo to me, is a simplistic clothing brand that offers true to what they believe - casual wear that can be worn by anyone, any day. It is just like an Asian version of GAP. It's simple basic clothing items, are not only comfortable but cheap. One can never have too many basics in the closet. I came about this brand reading about it of course, in Japanese / international magazines. (they have more coverage in Asian magazines).

During my visit to Japan, Uniqlo was basically everywhere, every corner of the street and even smaller outlets at the subway. Talk about convenience. My japanese friend raves to me about it, saying it was his favourite brand, because of it's competitive pricing. Of course, I got a few items (as souvenirs for myself). It's not only basic items, but trendy basic items. I got a few basic tank tops, and tights. Japanese call them tights, but to me it's a thicker version of panty hose. I wanted to get a pair of short pants (which was all the rage in Tokyo then, and tights too) but it was a bit too trendy. My guy friend bought a few pair of slacks, and a cardigan. Preppy.

UNIQLO’s recent spring collection had Chloe Sevigny and Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano fronting their campaign named UT Project (UT stands for UNIQLO t-shirt), a limited edition collection of t-shirts designed by renowned artists, designers, photographers, etc.

Chloe Sevigny + Tadanobu Asano

Another current hot news is the Uniqlo's Designer Invitation Project with designer Alexander Wang. Hitting stores on May 30th. Until then, all the internet hype will sure create a sudden influx of demand for. I'm sure it will be a sell out. This collection ranges from 1000 yen - 3990yen.

Alexander Wang / Uniqlo collection for the Basics Paradise.

I think the last dress looked better worn alone, without the long sleeve tee.

Sadly, it's not in our shores yet. It currently retails in
Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, UK, France and USA. But coming August, it will appear in our neighbouring country. News, here.

**Another long overdue post. I know a lot of blogs have written something about this current campaign.

shoes? again?

Out of boredom / stress, I went kai kai again.
Yes, partly because I wanted to use my 70% off (on second pair) Vincci voucher. I headed to KLCC with my colleagues. Impromptu!
Of course I dropped by Topshop first, which in the end proves to be bad. Lay out of the store looked fairly organized. Not as havoc as it was on the sale preview day in Mid Valley. There was a crowd but not too crowded (get what I mean?). Not many items was on sales. I was looking around and ending up in the shoes section. Wow, so many Shoes On Sale – 30%, 50% off. It’s only a few same designs in many sizes.
Tried on this lovely mary-janes..

but there was none in size 36. Tried on 37, a bit lose for me. Should I get it? RM199 before 30% less. I would say it’s quite a bargain. The staff attending to me was helpful and convincing! Politely I declined by saying I would think about it. I wandered off looking for this sado-machonistic-like (SM) waistcoat.

I found size 6, with the help of one sales assistant. S.a.s here are friendly and courteous. As I was queuing up to try clothes, one of the s.a. apologized and kindly told me to wait because it was full. And she continues to tell everyone else who was queuing. Tried on size 6 and 8 and texted my shrink – asking if I should/can get it. Normally I will be glad of her somewhat approving reply, but of course I didn’t get it in the end (such good self control, of late). I wasn’t as thrilled as compared to the time I first tried it on. Maybe I got distracted. Hahaha.
Then I headed to Vincci. I wanted to get a pair of pointed working heels. And a pair of s.m. bondage mary janes. Black. Glossy. Pros for this is the height of its heels, and the rounded front; totally epitomes mary-janes. But, it's just weird on me in some way, plus I don't fancy glossy material that much (especially on shoes, it reads FLASHY). I tried it again, it just doesn’t seem like a match for me, not anymore. Maybe it was because of the bondage-like band (it caught my eyes the first time), or the material. Well, I ditched it. I decided to get the pointed working heels, in purplish clay and red. Red, can’t believe I actually bought a pair of red heels.

Total damage. RM64 for 2 pairs of shoes. Cheap? Expensive? At least I can wear it everyday until it is worn out.

Nothing to shout about.

Remember this?
I was totally exited to set out for the sales on that day. Mid Valley's outlet, to be exact.
After going to Miss Selfridge, Topshop, Topman and Dorothy Perkins, I felt let down. Hahaha. Well, first of all.

Nothing in this poster was on sale

In Topshop, items on sales are,.. well… sales that day was from the same rack you see during non sale period. You know the off-season rack in a secluded corner. Those From RM19 and above, or was it the 50% OFF rack? Okay, it wasn’t that bad. There were some further discounts – 30% range, and of course 50%. But the clothes don’t excite me that much. Plus, it’s hard to find Size 6, although Size 8 can do.
The queue was pretty long. I didn’t bother checking out the shoes section. I scanned and there weren’t any signs that shouted sales. But there was a frame by the wall, where Marc Jacob’s look-alikes are stacked. Can’t remember it was 50% off, or 70%. Maybe it was 30% off. I doubt anyone will buy it. It is made of suede and in purple. Screams Barney. It won’t look that bad actually, but because it’s suede – it does look kind of worn out. Out.
Headed to Topman. Quite a bargain for some. 50% off shirts and vests. Most items are not on sale.

Miss Selfridge. Nothing much. Same old. Same old. Good to get some accessories which is actually cheap. I got a belt, half price.

Dorothy Perkins. Nothing much. Got the pair of earrings I wanted.
Non-sale items

Pbbbhhh. 10% off from my members card.

10% off. Kinda pathetic. Sigh. Not even a sale (to me).

Prove me wrong, and show me what you have snagged.

not my shoes

I am so frustrated now. I bought a pair of lovely sandals... while I was being environmentally friendly by not wanting the box, they wrapped it in paper and I didn't double check when I paid. Okay, my fault.
2 weeks later, today. I opened it, and it was the WRONG PAIR! Argh.

Is it a blessing in disguise?

It does look like something I would buy. Many times, I would try something like this but not buying because I know my toes are ugly, hence I did not buy something like this?
Ugly toes and Alladin-esque pointed shape (yuck*)

Should I keep it.. or head to the store and throw a bitch fit. It was cheap anyway.
Cumbersome strap. And it's not even the same size.

But... I don't care, I want that pair I wanted, the pair I bought. Now, I have to search for my receipt, which I doubt I can find it.

COMME DES GARCONS FOR H&M

I could not believe it when I read about this. Please please bring H&M to Malaysia.

Official news, here.

I wanted to write about this fashion brand, after my visit to Tokyo. But somehow.. it became a long overdue task. I came across this french name, pouring over Japanese magazine - admiring their structural designs, mostly monochromatic, asymmetrical (read - androgynous). In fact, it was originated from Japan, not France.

Comme des Garçons's history.

Someone please bring me to their Guerrilla store.

Oh blush!

I was searching for the perfect blusher, high and low. Due to my slighty tanned skin, I can't posibbly wear pink tone blushers, unless I wanna look like Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls or Fafi girls. This is better.
Coincidently I dropped Origin's counter. I tried out their newly arrived color blusher > Coral Reef.
I asked the SA if there are any other colors I can try out, but she told me it's the only color - suited for Asian skin. And yet, I asked her 3 more times, but still she gave me the same answers (in a very pleasant and informative manner). She must be thinking that I am dumb. I came home with it, and of course, trusting Google. I found out there is more than one color.

Well, I am sure this color suits me best!
Available in most Origins counter or click >Nordstrom

black is still in
